A Tax on Soda. Good or Bad PDF Print E-mail

A tax on soda.  Is this acceptable or not?  Surely it's another way for the government to create revenue, but why soda?  Clearly this is a "sin" tax.  A tax to try and discourage the consumption of soda.  However, who is the government to nanny our consumption of food.  If you ask me, it's none of their business.  Many questions emerge from this tax.  Will this be a slippery slope? Where it starts off at a soda tax, but leads down the path towards more taxes which try to create negative incentives?  Let us know your thoughts in the comments!  Supplemental articles attached.

I don't think this type of tax should be allowed. I am more than capable of taking care of myself and believe that the government should take a Laissez Faire approach and take their hands OFF.
